This is a brief update to keep delegates informed about developments with the 2020 DHB MECA Campaign and how you can play your part to help it take shape.

Delegate-led claims meetings

We’re really focused on having a member-led campaign, so this year claims meetings will usually be run by delegates. Most of you have or will attend training to receive the information needed to run meetings. If you haven’t been able to get to one of the training days it would be a good idea to talk with other delegates or call your organiser.

Resources page

Electronic copies of the resources you will need to run and promote claims meetings are available at a secure NZNO/DHB MECA delegate resources page on the NZNO website. This page is only accessible to DHB delegates and you will need your membership number and password to log in. Your membership number is .

Note: This Delegate resources page is at an interim location. We are launching a new campaign website dedicated to the NZNO/DHB MECA Campaign in early April which will become your one-stop-shop for resources.

If the link doesn’t work for you, try following these steps.

1. Go to www.nzno.org.nz.
2. Login with membership number and password.
3. Click ‘Get involved’ in the main menu.
4. On the Get involved page click ‘NZNO-DHB MECA delegate resources’ from the ‘In this area’ side bar.

Uploading claims meeting results

When the meeting you lead is over, please use our online SurveyMonkey form to upload the results. A link to this upload form is also available at the Delegate resources page.  

Can you help us with a profile?

We want to feature delegates and other members as much as possible in the campaign. At a meeting you attend an NZNO organiser or educator may ask you whether you’re willing to be part of this. They may want to take your photo and NZNO communications staff will then contact you to write up a short profile about you, what you love about your work and what you’re hoping we will achieve this year in the DHB MECA negotiations. 

Please consider taking part. Profiles like this will keep members at the forefront of the campaign and will help the public, and those we’re negotiating with, to understand the great contribution nurses, midwives and health care assistants make. They will also help others understand that we are real people and that our pay and working conditions play a big part in how we feel about our work and how well we can do it.
